Softball Splits With The Gulls On Senior Day

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Bristol, R.I.- The Roger Williams Softball team split their doubleheader with the Gulls of Endicott College on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks fell short in the first going, losing 4-5 but ended the day with a victory in the second game 7-6.

In the first game against the Gulls the Hawks played a tight game, but Endicott College pulled out the 5-4 victory. The game was tied at two with Endicott College batting in the top of the fifth when Jamie Hopgood doubled off of Juliet Hulme, driving in two runs.
The Hawks lost despite out-hitting Endicott College 11 to eight.
 
The Gulls took an early lead in the first inning. Olivia Odermatt drove in one when she singled in the first inning.

After the Gulls  scored one run in the top of the seventh, the Hawks answered with one of their own. The Gulls scored when Margaret Martzolf singled off of Rachel Wandzilak, driving in one run. The Hawks then answered when Taylor Chatowsky doubled off of Michaela Hamill, driving in one run.

Hamill earned the win for Endicott College. She pitched seven innings, surrendering four runs, 11 hits, striking out one, and walking one. Juliet Hulme took the loss for the Hawks. She tossed four and a third innings, surrendering four runs, seven hits, striking out four, and walking one.
 
The Hawks had 11 hits in the game. Haley Ledbetter and Merri Moise each collected multiple hits for RWU Hawks. Moise, Ledbetter, Mikaela Grosso, and Chatowsky each drove in one run to lead the Hawks.

In the second game of the doubleheader the Hawks defeated Endicott College 7-6 on thanks to a walk-off error. The game was tied at six with the Hawks batting in the bottom of the seventh when there was an error, scoring one run.

Tara Chatowsky led the Hawks to victory by driving in four runs. She went 3-for-4 at the plate. Chatowsky drove in runs on a single in the third and a triple in the sixth.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Hawks tied things up at six. The Hawks scored one run when Merri Moise doubled with one out in the sixth inning.
 
The Hawks scored four runs in the sixth inning. The big inning was thanks to a fielder's choice by Taylor Chatowsky, a triple by Chatowsky, and a double by Moise.

Endicott College scored three runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Endicott College came thanks to a error and a walk by Hayley Arduini.

Maddie Reis earned the win for the Hawks. Reis went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering one run, two hits, and striking out one. Mikaela Mallozzi took the loss for Endicott College. She threw one and one-third innings, allowing one run, one hit, and walking one.
 
Laura Somerville started the game for Endicott College. She pitched five and a third innings, giving up six runs, nine hits, and striking out two. Alyssa Murray started the game for the Hawks. She threw three and a third innings, allowing five runs, six hits, and striking out one.
 
The Hawks collected ten hits. Chatowsky and Valerie Moran each collected multiple hits for the Hawks.

Endicott College had eight hits in the game. Julia McNeil and Emily Sharpe each collected multiple hits for Endicott College. Arduini went 0-for-1 at the plate as she led the team with two runs batted in.

The Hawks our Home Wednesday April 26th, playing UMass- Dartmouth in a non-conference match-up at 4PM.
