Men’s Lacrosse Ends Regular Season With Win

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse ended the regular season with an 18-9 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology Tuesday afternoon.

Wentworth opened with back-to-back goals by Chris Quinn in the first two minutes of the game, leading to a Roger Williams timeout. After the short break, Roger Williams responded with consecutive goals by Justin MacIntyre (Norwalk, Conn.) to tie the game at two apiece. Then Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.) logged three straight goals in less than a minute to quick put RWU up 5-2.

Max Cammarota (Redding, Conn.) and AJ Core (Syosset, N.Y.) combined for three more scores in the final three minutes of play in the opening quarter to give RWU an 8-2 lead. In the following period, both teams' offense stalled, as the only goal in the quarter came from a misplayed ball back into the Leopards' own goal. Roger Williams would take a 9-2 advantage going into halftime.

Matt Larsen (Northborough, Mass.) and Kevin Butler (Jefferson, Mass.) ended the scoring drought for Wentworth in the period, but the Hawks tallied six goals in the quarter to build the lead to 15-4 entering the final quarter.

Wentworth's offense began to pick up in the final period, scoring five times in the quarter including closing the game on a 4-0 run in the final eight minutes of play. However, the deficit was too much to overcome as RWU picked up the win.

Core notched six points on four goals and two assists, while Cammarota added five points on two goals and three assists. Shawn Errasti (Duxbury, Mass.) finished with eight ground balls and three caused turnovers. Dolan Jones (Levittown, N.Y.) made four saves in the win.

Butler (3 G), Larsen (1 G, 2 A), and Mike Coakley (Flemington, N.J.) [1 G, 2 A] each finished with three points for Wentworth. Adam Dufault (Lexington, Mass.) had six saves in the loss.

Roger Williams (9-7, 5-3 CCC) hosts Curry in the CCC Quarterfinals on Saturday, while Wentworth ends the year at 6-10, 1-7 CCC.
