Box Score QUINCY, Mass. - The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team absorbed 71-42 loss to Roger Williams Wednesday evening at the Lahue Physical Education Center.
The Lions sink to 10-12 on the year and 4-11 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the setback. The Hawks improve to 19-3 overall and 13-2 in league play.
Seniesha Sekaquaptewa (Scottsdale, Ariz.) scored a team-high nine points and added four rebounds. Alyssa Cosio Murillo (Santa Barbara, Calif.) notched eight points and a pair of assists. Kayla Torio (Manteca, Calif.) netted six points and collected seven boards.
The visitors strung together a 10-0 run to generate a 17-9 lead with 2:58 left to play in the first quarter.
Roger Williams pushed its advantage to double-digits just before the conclusion of the opening period on a layup by
Stephanie Bramante, 21-11.
The Hawks widened the gap to 31-13 with 3:21 remaining in the second frame as Gabby Jerahian scored a layup.
The home team trailed 36-19 at the halftime intermission.
Eastern Nazarene shot 29.2% from the floor and just 18.2% from behind the arc in the first half. Roger Williams posted a field-goal percentage of 53.3% in the opening two quarters while connecting on 4-of-7 from three-point range.
Cosio Murillo paced the Lions with eight points and a pair of assists at the break while Shelby Holmes (Seeley Lake, Mont.) netted four points.
The Hawks opened the third quarter with a 10 unanswered points to extend their advantage to 46-19 with 6:34 left to play in the period.
The guests outscored the home side 20-9 in the third to stretch the margin to 56-28.
Roger Williams edged Eastern Nazarene 15-14 in fourth-quarter scoring to wrap up its 11th win in a row.
The Lions finished with a field-goal percentage of 27.1% to go with 2-of-16 shooting from long distance. The Hawks shot 50.8% from the floor and 41.2% from beyond the three-point line on the night.
