Box Score HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team fell in its non-conference matchup against Haverford College 7-13 Sunday afternoon.
Patrick Girard put Haverford on the board first less than two minutes into the game. However Peter Navarro (Londonderry, N.H.) got the goal back for Roger Williams a minute later. Haverford regained the lead with two more goals from Stephen DeLeo to go up 3-1 at the end of the first quarter.
The Fords added two more goals from Ben Frost and Isaac Krier over the first 11 minutes of the second quarter. Roger Williams was unable to score for over 20 minutes of play until Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.) ended the drought with 4:30 left in the half. Max Ellis and Chris Bova (Ridgefield, Conn.) traded goals for both teams as Haverford went into the break with a 6-3 lead.
The Fords added two more scores in the first three minutes of the period before Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.) posted a goal at 6:08. After another Haverford goal, Marzec, Bova, and Mullane rolled off three straight scores ranging over the end of the third into the fourth quarter to bring Roger Williams within two (7-9). However Haverford closed out the game with four straight scores to come away with the win.
Weston Nolan (Falmouth, Maine) had four saves in the loss for RWU. Mullane finished with four points (2 G, 2 A) while Marzec had two goals and an assist.Harrison Levesque (Ridgefield, Conn.) won 15 of his 20 faceoffs while leading RWU with ten ground balls.
Roger Williams (2-2) will travel to Babson on Wednesday.
