Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team bounced back with a 16-10 win over Johnson & Wales University Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Jared Grier (Qunicy, Mass.) and Harrison Levesque (Ridgefield, Conn.) combined for the first three goals of the game, helping put the Hawks on top 3-0 six minutes into the game. Jacob deMey and Eric Russo helped bring the Wildcats within one before Grier and Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.) closed out the first quarter with goals to put RWU on top 5-2.
After Ben Farrell opened the second quarter with a score, Chris Bova (Ridgefield, Conn.), Justin MacIntyre (Norwak, Conn.), and Andrew Gaffney (Cherry Valley, Mass.) logged back-to-back-back goals, extending the lead to 8-4. Another goal by deMey in the final minute of the half helped bring JWU within four (4-8) entering halftime.
Roger Williams continued to outscore the Wildcats in the third quarter, putting up seven goals to Johnson & Wales' three. The Hawks stretched their lead from four to eight over a two-minute stretch with just under four minutes left in the third quarter.
Johnson & Wales notched three goals in the final quarter of play, but could not overcome the eight-goal deficit. Marzec logged the final goal of the game for RWU with 6:43 left.
Grier scored five goals with one assist while Marzec scored on four tries. Weston Nolan (Falmouth, Maine) finished with 11 saves.
Roger Williams (3-3) will host Eastern Connecticut College on Tuesday.
