The Golden Bears have participated in the past seven CCC Championship games and are hoping to make it eight straight.
The team they have met in six of those seven matchups, defending CCC Tournament Champion Endicott, will try to keep the league title as it enters the postseason as the No. 2 seed. The Gulls have made five straight championship appearances and finished this year with a 6-2 CCC record (6-10 overall).
The Golden Bears and Gulls both earned byes into the CCC Semifinals as the top two seeds. They will meet the winners of the CCC Quarterfinals which take place Saturday, April 28.
Curry will host one of the quarterfinals as it posted a 5-3 record in conference play (10-5 overall) to claim the No. 3 seed. The Colonels will host No. 6 seed Roger Williams, which played to a 4-4 league record (8-7 overall). The University of New England will be the No. 4 seed and host No. 5 seed Salve Regina in the other quarterfinal. Both UNE and Salve Regina went 4-4 in conference play this season.
With UNE, Salve, and Roger Williams all tied at 4-4 in the conference standings, the league's tiebreaking procedure was needed to determine seeding. All three teams were 1-1 in the head-to-head comparison. As the next tiebreaking step, the three teams' results against conference opponents in rank order were compared. None of the teams defeated the top two seeds, but the Nor'easters had a win against No. 3 seed Curry and were awarded the No. 4 seed. The two Rhode Island schools then returned to the top of the tiebreaking procedure and Salve Regina earned the No. 5 seed thanks to a head-to-head win.
The winner of the UNE-Salve game will visit Western New England in the semifinals, while Endicott will host the winner of Curry and Roger Williams. The semifinal round is scheduled for Tuesday, May 1 and game times will be announced following the conclusion of the quarterfinals.
The two semifinal winners will meet in the CCC Men's Lacrosse Championship on Friday, May 4. The CCC Tournament Champion will receive the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.
