Early Run By Endicott Downs Men’s Lacrosse

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams Men's Lacrosse team fell behind in the first quarter to Endicott College and was not able to come back, as RWU fell 14-5 to the Gulls.

The Wednesday night game started off quickly as Andrew Soucy (Andover, Mass.) scored within the first minute of regulation play for the Gulls. Roger Williams quickly responded when Justin MacIntyre (Norwalk, Conn.) found the stick of Jude Marzec (West Islip, N.Y.) for a Hawk goal. The rest of the first quarter was dominated by the Endicott offense as they went on a 4-0 run before the Hawks scored again. Thirty seconds after the first Hawk goal, Nick Arcadipane (Groveland, Mass.), answered for the Gulls, giving them the lead. Ben Clark (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Jack Sutherland (Sudbury, Mass.) each netted an unassisted goal for the Gulls right before Sutherland assisted Elijah Bard (Agawam, Mass.). Jack Sylvia (Nantucket, Mass.) was the last Hawk goal of the quarter, assisted by Harrison Levesque (Ridgefield, Conn.). Nick Sturgess (Hampstead, N.H.) and Clark from Myles Horn (Pocasset, Mass.) were the final Endicott goals of the quarter.

Roger Williams started the second quarter looking promising, after Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.) assisted MacIntyre. However, Endicott found a way to dominate yet again, scoring four goals in just two minutes of play. Clark assisted Horn at the 11:23 mark. Soucy followed by scoring an unassisted goal, and then assisted Bard for the following goal. Derek Yannone (Lynnfield, Mass.) also netted an unassisted goal. After Roger Williams' Shawn Errasti (Duxbury, Mass.), received a penalty for slashing, the Gulls were given a man-up opportunity, in which they converted into a goal by Sutherland from Matt McClearly (Blauvelt, N.Y.). The Hawks finished out the half with a goal by Tim Mullane, and assisted by Chris Bova (Ridgefield, Conn.) during the final six seconds.

Eric Sprada (Glen Rock, N.J.) scored with only 13 seconds into second-half play. The third quarter started to get intense between the two teams, with penalties called both ways. Endicott finished the quarter with a goal from Sutherland with only six seconds remaining. Jared Grier (Quincy, Mass.) scored a man-up goal off of a pass from Bova, making it the only and final goal of the fourth quarter.

Roger Williams' Weston Nolan (Falmouth, Maine) allowed seven goals with two saves in his loss. Brian Brockwell (Duxbury, Mass.) led his team with three caused turnovers and two groundballs.

Endicott's Patrick Dean (Westhampton, N.Y.) got the win for the Gulls with 10 saves. Derek Yannone (Lynnfield, Mass.) won 17-of-22 faceoffs and led his team with nine groundballs. Andrew Fithian (Marshfield, Mass.) also caused three turnovers.

Roger Williams (5-5, 1-2 CCC) will be back in action on Saturday as they host the University of New England. Endicott (3-6, 1-0 CCC) will also be hosting Western New England on Saturday in another conference match up.
