A 2003 graduate from William Smith College where she was named an All-American, Callahan came to Roger Williams in 2007 after stints as the head coach at Tufts University and the assistant coach at Stanford University.

In the 14 seasons with Callahan at the helm, the Hawks have consistently been one of the top ten teams in College Sailing based on the Sailing World rankings. During that time, Callahan has developed 30 ICSA All-Americans, earned 22 berths to ICSA National Championships, and won a pair of national championships.

In just her second season, in 2008, Roger Williams earned their first berth into the ICSA Coed Dinghy National Championships, where they placed fourth in a field of 18. That same year saw Cy Thompson, a future three-time All-American and US Olympic team member, bring home the sailing team's first ever National Championship at the ICSA Men's Singlehanded National Championship. In 2011 the Hawks found themselves at the top of collegiate sailing again as they won their first ICSA Team Racing National Championship. Callahan has also coached three national championship runners-up with the most recent being in the 2018 ICSA Team Race National Championship. That season, the team set a program record with five ICSA All-Americans.
