BRISTOL, R.I. — Following a fifth-place finish at the NEISA Open Singlehanded Championships earlier Saturday at the Monotype Trophy in Chestnut Hill, Mass., the Roger Williams University sailing team continued its busy day on the water with three additional regattas, highlighted by a third-place finish at the Hatch Brown Trophy in Cambridge, Mass.
Hawks Make Their Mark at Hatch Brown Trophy
Roger Williams turned in another strong performance at the Hatch Brown Trophy, placing third overall with 161 points. Team A finished with 48 points, while Team B recorded 80 points.
Leading the Hawks on the water were sophomore skippers Parker Moore (Hampton, Va.) and Dominik Moncur (Plymouth, Minn.), who captured the C Division to help propel Roger Williams to its third-place finish.
The Hawks battled against a strong field that included several of the region's top programs, continuing what has been a strong start to the 2026-27 season.
Schwartz Posts solid Showing at Singlehanded Championships
Earlier in the day, sophomore skipper Jonathon Reece Schwartz (Miami, Fla.) delivered a strong performance at the NEISA Open Singlehanded Championships, finishing fifth overall at the Monotype Trophy in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Schwartz's fifth-place finish puts him in position to potentially qualify for the national championship, with additional qualification details expected to be announced October 20. The national championship is scheduled to take place in November at American Yacht Club and will be co-hosted by Fordham University.
Hawks Close Day With Strong Finishes at Regis Trophy
Roger Williams continued its busy Saturday with a seventh-place finish at the Regis Trophy, totaling 153 points. Team A recorded 56 points, while Team B finished with 97 points.
The Hawks then saved one of their strongest performances for the end of the day, earning a second-place finish at the Mystic Lake Invite. Roger Williams totaled 193 points, with Team A recording 51 points and Team B finishing with 72 points.
