PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On Saturday, the Roger Williams University Women's Rugby team came home with another win this past weekend after traveling to Providence College with a final score of 66-0.
Scoring ten tries from six different players, the Hawks' scoring ratio is now up to 255 points to eight let in. Fantastic games were played by flankers
Guinevere Rhuda and
Kirsten Winn who played both intense defense and offense, with Winn making strong runs and Rhuda making every tackle. Senior captain
Vanessa Surridge stepped up as a leader and team player and joined the pack this weekend playing an amazing game at hooker to secure the win for the Hawks.
Sophomore flyhalf
Sarah Gray also played an amazing game for the team, finding every hole and scoring twice in four minutes, and finishing the game with a hat trick. Overall, defense for the Hawks was extremely impressive, holding Providence to no scores, and improving their flexibility as players shifted around to different positions on the pitch.
The team plays Saturday, October 30
th at home for their last match of the conference season and senior day at 12:00pm against Franklin Pierce University. The Hawks hope to finish their season with an undefeated record and win their conference before moving forward to playoffs in Syracuse later in November.
