Hailing from RHAM High School and Marlborough, Connecticut, Welch began her career with the Hawks as a setter. During her freshman season, she played in six sets across three matches and tallied 41 assists, nine kills, and four service aces. She then began her transition to an outside hitter in her second season and posted six kills and two digs across three matches and three sets.
Â
Welch is enjoying a breakout season this fall for the Hawks as she has appeared in all of RWU's ten matches and 38 sets thus far this year. She ranks third on the roster with 2.61 points per set and 2.26 kills per set while hitting at a .178 clip.

Off the court, Welch is a two-time member of the Academic All-CCC team and serves on SAAC. With SAAC, she is the president of both the RWU and CCC committees and is also on the national board as an Associate Member.
