Women’s Basketball Moves Up To #24 In WBCA National Poll

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team has moved up in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association national poll, jumping one spot to #24.

Roger Williams has been climbing in the WBCA national poll over the course of the year, receiving votes in each poll during the 2021-22 season before finally breaking through and earning a spot in the top 25 in last week's poll.

"It is great for our program to continue to get recognition at the national level," said Head Coach Kelly Thompson. "We know it means we have to show up for every game, as each team we play will be giving us their best effort. I look forward to our upcoming CCC games this week, and hope we can continue our success."

The Hawks remain unbeaten this season, continuing to improve their best start in program history with a 10-0 overall record. In Commonwealth Coast Conference play, RWU sits in a tie for first place with a 5-0 conference record.

Roger Williams played two games last week, both of which were CCC contests. After a cancelled matchup against Gordon last Tuesday, the Hawks began 2022 with a 76-54 road win over Western New England on Thursday. They would follow that up with an 82-71 victory at Nichols on Saturday.

Roger Williams will host Salve Regina Thursday evening at 5:30pm in the team's first home game of 2022.
