BRISTOL, R.I. – For the first time in the history of the program, the Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team is nationally ranked in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association national poll, making its debut at #25.
Roger Williams received votes in the previous WBCA national poll as well as the d3hoops.com national poll after beginning the season 7-0. Currently, the Hawks remain undefeated on the year, sitting at 8-0 overall with their best start to a season in program history.
"Being in the Top 25 is a byproduct of the hard work and focus that we have brought to each practice and game this season," said Head Coach
Kelly Thompson. "I am proud of the team and hope this is just the start of our success this year."
Roger Williams ended the 2021 calendar year with a convincing 80-50 victory over Wheaton College on December 9, the team's third victory of the season by 30+ points. The Hawks are outscoring their opponents by 20.1 points per game and also undefeated in Commonwealth Coast Conference play with a 3-0 mark.
Roger Williams will play its first game of 2022 Thursday evening in a CCC showdown against Western New England University.
