BRISTOL, R.I. – Mathieu Dale (Christiansted, Va.) of the Roger Williams University sailing team, was named an at large selection by the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) for the National Open Singlehanded Championships.
 
Dale placed sixth at the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) Singlehanded Championship the weekend of Sept. 17.
 
As per the ICSA Selection committee criteria, in order to be selected for the event as an at large selection, "Selectors must honor the finishing order at any respective conference championship."
 
The NEISA led all conferences in at-large bids for the Open Singlehanded Championships with five selected.
 
This is the first time that Dale has been selected to an ICSA Championship in his career.
