Women’s Basketball Remains At #22 Ranking In WBCA National Poll

BRISTOL, R.I. – For the second consecutive week, the Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team remains ranked at #22 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association national poll.

"We are excited to keep our standing in the national polls after a record-setting regular season," said Head Coach Kelly Thompson. "As we are in the midst of the CCC playoffs, we are hoping to perform well enough to secure an NCAA bid and show that we belong on the national stage."

Last week marked the final week of the regular season in which the Hawks only competed in two games. On Wednesday, Roger Williams went on the road to Boston to face Suffolk. RWU needed a fourth-quarter rally but was able to claim a 63-57 win over the Rams.

On Saturday, the Hawks hosted Western New England in the team's regular season finale. RWU used a strong first-quarter surge to take an early lead and keep it the rest of the way towards a 65-51 win. Roger Williams would claim its first outright Commonwealth Coast Conference regular season title and earn the top seed for the CCC Tournament.

The Hawks continue postseason play on Thursday with a 6:00pm home matchup against #5 seed Gordon College.
