BIDDEFORD, Maine – Jack Kester (Londonderry, N.H.) began his collegiate career with a pair of multi-goal showings for the Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team, on his way to Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week honors, as it was announced by the conference offices on Monday. Kester played a key role in the Hawks offensive attack with four goals and two assists as the team went 1-1.
Kester receives the honor in his first week as a collegiate player, and it has not been long since RWU had a player win weekly rookie of the week honors as
Matt Halpin (Hanover, Mass.) received recognition once last spring.
In the Hawks' season-opening game against a powerhouse Babson College squad, Kester provided offensive life with a two-goal showing that was tied for the team lead, while he also collected a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover in the game. He then followed that up by being a dual-threat offensively in the team's blowout win over Johnson & Wales, scoring two goals and assisting on two more in the 16-6 victory win.
This season, his four goals are tied for 12
th in the CCC while his pair of assists rank tied for 11
th and his six points are tied for 13
th in the conference.
