BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team began the spring portion of the season in style with three wins in the team's four regattas, while taking second place in the fourth.
Hawk Highlights
It was a busy weekend for Roger Williams on the water, with the entire roster competing across New England. At the Hap Moore Trophy, RWU took the top spot among the nine-team regatta. The Hawks put together 13 wins over the course of the event, besting Yale by one victory. The Sharpe Trophy saw the Hawks take first place over the other seven teams. Similar to the Hap Moore, RWU edged Yale by a single win to earn first place overall.
At the McMerrick Cup Team Race, Roger Williams hosted six other schools while putting two teams on the water. The Hawks 1 squad claimed first place overall while Hawks 2 took sixth place. In the final regatta of the weekend, RWU finished in second place at the Rhody the Riveter down the road in Newport. The all-division format saw the Hawks finish fifth in B Division and eighth in A Division.
