BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team picked up one regatta win and one runner-up finish on a picturesque weekend on the water across the region on Saturday and Sunday. The Hawks topped the seven-team field at the Southern 5 Fleet Race and took second at the Mystic Lake Team Race.
Hawk Highlights
The top finish for Roger Williams over the weekend was at the Southern 5 Fleet Race where they topped the seven-team field. The Hawks dominated the B Division at that regatta, especially on day one as they finished in the top-five in all but two of the races on Saturday and in ten of the 14 races overall.
RWU also performed well at the Mystic Lake Team Race as well, finishing as the runner-up at that event. The Hawks went 10-4 overall to take second.
The most important regatta of the weekend was the NEISA Team Race Championship hosted by Harvard and the Hawks performed well but fell short of their second-straight top finish in the region. RWU was outstanding, going 7-2 in round one but ultimately dropped after going 3-2 in the third round.
Rounding out the weekend was the Camel Women's Team Race where RWU took seventh out of nine.
