How it Happened

After splitting the weekend CCC battle with Nichols College, the Hawks came into today's contest looking to build some momentum as they head towards the end of the regular season. That momentum would not be built in this one as Kaitlyn Shirshac (Enfield, Conn.) pitched a complete-game shutout for the Corsairs, holding the Hawks to only two baserunners. Pitching for the Hawks, Lia Nocella (Tyngsboro, Mass.) continued her recent strong play in the circle. She went five innings, striking out six, and allowing five hits. The lone runs that were allowed came on a singular play in the fifth as Hailey Lyons (Hayden, Idaho) hit a sacrifice fly, scoring a pair of runs, one of which was unearned.
