BIDDEFORD, Maine – Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.) netted ten total goals across two contests while
Max Kimmel (Milford, Conn.) sent away a career-high 21 shots for the Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team to secure Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week honors respectively for the week of April 18
th through April 24
th, as it was announced by the conference offices on Monday. The duo led the charge for the streaking Hawks who went 2-0 on the week and have won three straight.
For Mullane, this is the fourth time he has received CCC weekly recognition and the second time this year. He also got conference offensive player of the week for the span of February 28
th through March 6
th earlier this season and he previously won CCC Rookie of the Week twice as a freshman. Speaking of rookies of the week, it is the first time that Kimmel has been honored by the conference as he is the second Hawk to get recognized after
Jack Kester (Londonderry, N.H.) got the award for the week of February 21
st through 27
th.
Mullane was superb for the Hawks, serving as the offensive catalyst, specifically in the team's win over Nichols College last Wednesday when he was involved in ten of the team's 14 goals scored in the contest. He pilled up five goals while assisting on five others including the tally that would end up being the game-winner. Both his point and assist totals in the contest were tied for the most in a single game over the course of his distinguished career while his goal total is tied for the second-most he has posted in a contest. Mullane was once again at the forefront of the RWU attack on Saturday against UNE and while he only had a single assist, he once again netted five goals in the team's largest offensive output of the season.
Kimmel got the nod in net in each contest for Roger Williams this week. He played the first three quarters of the team's win over UNE on Saturday, making eight stops against eight goals against but his standout showing came against Nichols on Wednesday. In that game he made a career-high 21 saves against the Bison. The Hawks needed nearly every one of them too, as they edged Nichols 14-11 in that one. Kimmel also secured a pair of ground balls across the two games.
On the year, Mullane is fourth in the conference in goals (35), assists (28), and total points (63), shooting at an efficient 40.2 clip. Kimmel, meanwhile, is 6-5 in net with a 57.1 save percentage that ranks third in the CCC.
