Golf Fields Two Teams, Both Post Top-5 Finishes At Home Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Golf team deployed two teams of five while hosting the Hawk Invitational at Green Valley Country Club on Monday. In the ten-team field, the two Hawk squads finished third and fifth with total scores of 326 and 335 respectively.

The Hawks third place team fell one stroke shy of the mark set by Salem State, and was bested by the 310 that Endicott College posted. The individual results ended in a three-way tie that led to a playoff. Rhode Island College's Anthony Loiselle (Providence, R.I.) would dip out on the first playoff hole before Endicott golfer Nicholas Grimbilas (Strafford, N.H.) would beat out teammate Tyler Baker (Falmouth, Maine) on the third playoff hole.

Hawk Highlights
The first of Roger Williams' two teams would feature the lowest scorer for the program, as Jake Brennan (Duxbury, Mass.) would claim fourth place after posting a +7, 78. Following Brennan for the fifth-place finishing unit would be Brian See (Mansfield, Mass.), and Adam Carulli (Rehoboth, Mass.), after finishing with an 82 and 85 respectively. Owen Wallace (Natick, Mass.), and Tom Manning (Andover, Mass.) would match each other's scores at +19, but one of the two 90's would be dropped, giving the team a 335, good enough for fifth place.

The Hawks second team would prove to be the more successful of the two. Trevor Hada (Los Angeles, Calif.) would finish the day with an eight-over, 79, and in a tie for fifth. The third golfer to shoot within ten strokes of par would be Johnny Doherty (Braintree, Mass.), ending the day one shot behind Hada. Rounding out the scorers for the third-place unit would be Terry Baker (Fiskdale, Mass.) and Ben DeFelice (Warwick, R.I.) finishing with an 83 and 84, giving Baker a solo spot at 17th, and DeFelice a tie for 18th. The final golfer who competed was Ben Brodeur (Whitinsville, Mass.) who finished his round with a +20, 91.
