WINDSOR, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Men's Golf Team completed its first event of the Spring on Sunday afternoon, finishing 13
th at the Trinity Bantam / Hartford Hawks Spring Invitational.
The Hawks finished with a 606 (+46) as a team, finishing ahead of Springfield, with Hofstra shooting a 567 (+7) for the team title. Bowdoin finished with a 573 (+13) and saw Trinity (B) finish with a 576 (+16) to round out the top three. Tufts and Trinity finished fourth and fifth.
Will Lafrance (Westport, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Hawks, carding an opening round 70 (E) ahead of a day two finish with a 72 (+2), finishing tied for ninth overall.
Gianni Fontenault (Warwick, R.I.) placed tied or 35, shooting a two-day total of 149 (+9). After an opening round of 77 (+7), Fontenault carded a 72 (+2) on day two.
PJ Forbes (Westport, Mass.) finished with a 156 (+16) for the tournament after carding an opening round 74. Forbes hit an 82 on day two, falling to a tied 63
rd.
Joel Collins (Manchester, N.H.) finished a few strokes back with a 161 (+21) while carding rounds of 82 and 79 to finish tied for 70
th.
Rounding out the tournament for the Hawks was
Dante Hardt (Orange, Conn.) who finished 162 with an 80 and 82.
Roger Williams will return to competition on Sunday, Apr. 12 at Green Valley Country Club for the first day of the RWU Hawks Invitational. The second round will take place on Monday, Apr. 13 at The Aquidneck Club.
