Bristol, R.I. – Assistant Athletic Director for Aquatics and Waterfront and Head Sailing Coach
Amanda Callahan has announced the hiring of
Jack Reiter as the first ever full-time assistant coach for the sailing program.
"I'm extremely excited to be joining a program such as Roger Williams, as it continues to perform at the highest level, led by strong coaching and department support," said Reiter, a California native. "During this transition, Coach Callahan and the rest of the Roger Williams family have made me feel very welcome, which I am very thankful for. I truly cannot wait for the season to start and will hopefully add to the already impressive program that the Hawks have on the collegiate sailing scene."
A 2022 graduate from Georgetown, Reiter was a four-year member of the Hoyas sailing team. The team took home the conference championship twice in 2019.
Reiter was named a Second Team All-Conference Collegiate Sailor in 2020, and earned First Team All-Conference honors in 2022. In 2021 and 2022 Reiter earned All-American status.
"Adding a full-time assistant coach is a huge step forward for our program. To this point we've been really fortunate to be supported by a talented pool of alumni and volunteers who have been providing top tier coaching but on a limited basis. Jack is fresh off an excellent college sailing career and we are very lucky to have him join our program."
The Roger Williams sailing program has seen success over the past few seasons. The program finished in second at the National Championship in Team Racing in 2018, 2021 and 2022, after finishing in first place in 2011.
The sailing team will set compete in their first event of the 2022-23 year the weekend of Sept. 10.
