NEW LONDON, CONN. – The Roger Williams men's ice hockey team kicked off their season with a 9-4 win against Connecticut College on Sunday afternoon at Dayton Arena.
 
Brian Gazard (Ashland, Mass.) opened the scoring with back-to-back goals for the Hawks. Although the Camels scored soon after the first two goals, Marco Santagati (Belmont, Mass.) came down the slot and sent the puck past the goalie, putting the Hawks up 3-1.
 
In the second period, Parker Defeo (Boxford, Mass.) went coast to coast and tucked in a wraparound on the power play, bringing in a score of 5-4 for the Hawks. Gazard then put in his third goal at the end of the second for a hat trick in his first game.
 
Roger Williams will travel to the Walter Brown Arena at Boston University on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 4:00 pm, they will then host Bridgewater State at Portsmouth Abbey Arena on Sunday, Oct. 15at 3:00 pm.
