Box Score 2 BRISTOL, R.I - The Roger Williams softball team was downed by Gordon in a double-header on Friday afternoon at Paolino Field, 4-3, 6-5.
On the mound in game one was
Raegen Germano (Old Tappan, N.J.), pitching 7.0 innings and facing 30 batters. She had four strikeouts and five ground outs.
Nicole Corey (Dighton, Mass.) pitched 4.0 innings in the second game, facing 19 batters and striking out one.
Natalie Lundari (Flemington, N.J.) pitched 3.0 innings in game two to face 14 batters and strike one out as well.
At bat in game one,
Taylor Howell (Sandwich, Mass.) recorded two hits, one of them a triple, and had one RBI.
Emma MacLean (Newton, Mass.) added two hits of her own with one runner batted in.
In game two,
Alex Burdick (Jewett City, Conn.) recorded one hit, a double, and two RBIs.
Isabelle Rosado (Central Islip, N.Y.) had two hits and one RBI.
Scoring started in the top of the third, with the Fighting Scots scoring two runs. The Hawks then scored with Howell hitting a single to the right side to bring Rosado to home.
Roger Williams scored again in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Kayleigh O'Connor (Southington, Conn.) doubled to left field. Next at bat was
Kelsey Burr (Warwick, R.I.) who reached first base on an error by the shortstop, before making it to second on an error by the centerfielder, with this O'Connor was able to make it in to score.
Nicolette Fraser (Swampscott, Mass.) scored a run off of a hit by MacLean, putting Roger Williams up 3-2 at the end of the inning.
Neither team scored until the seventh inning, when Gordon scored two runs off of back-to-back hits.
The Scots were first to score in game two, earning one run in the top of the first inning.
The Hawks scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to knot things up.
Jamie Wells (Castle Rock, Colo.) was able to score off of a single by Burr.
In the top of the fifth Gordon scored five runs. Ami Rivera hit a double, earning three RBIs. Rivera was then able to score from a wild pitch.
Casey Uryga (Berlin, Conn.) scored off of a double hit by Rosado, bringing the score to 6-2.
Caroline Thomas (Cranston, R.I.) was first to score in the sixth inning, reaching home on a throwing error by the catcher. Burdick then hit a double to earn two RBIs.
Jax Beaulieu (Sandwich, Mass.) and
Jess Hassell (Foster, R.I.) each scored, closing the gap, 6-5.
Roger Williams (8-18, 1-6 CCC) is set to take on Western New England in a double-header on Saturday, April 15 starting at 12 pm. The Hawks will then be on the road on Tuesday, April 18 at Mitchell College.
