REHOBOTH, MASS. – The Roger Williams University Equestrian team traveled nearby to Bluemead Stables for their second show of the 2024-25 season hosted by Salve Regina. The Hawks placed third overall.
Starting off the day for the Hawks, senior captain
Leah Petricca (Pittsfield, Mass.) placed 2nd and 6th in Open Fences and Flat, respectively, bringing in a total of six points for the Hawks in the first two divisions. In the Intermediate Fences division, junior
Sierra Kuzmeski (Hatsfield, Mass.) placed 4th for the Hawks, gaining three points for the team.
Moving on to Limit Fences,
Lindsey Savoie (Tolland, Conn.) placed 2nd bringing five more points in for the Hawks. In Limit Flat, the Hawks had four riders participating in the division with
Alexandra Macdonald (Norwood, Mass.) placing 1st, gaining seven points towards the team score and qualifying herself for the Regionals competition at the end of the season. Macdonald will immediately advance to the next division and begin to compete in Intermediate Flat as of the next show. In the second half of the day,
Nina DeGrandi (Berlin, Conn.) rode to a 3rd place finish for the Hawks in the Novice division and brought in four points for the team.
The Hawks totaled 25 points for the show day placing them third overall with the placings being as follows:
- JWU & URI (Tie) – 27 points each
- Salve Regina – 26 points
- RWU – 25 points
- Brown – 24 points
- RIC – 22 points
- Assumption – 5 points
The Roger Williams Equestrian team will travel to Windswept Farms in Warren, R.I. for their next show hosted by Brown University on Saturday, Oct 26th before they will host their region at home at Sandy Point Farms in Portsmouth, R.I. on Saturday, Nov 2nd.
