ASHAWAY, R.I. - The Roger Williams equestrian team travel to Hunter Ridge for the Johnson & Wales show, placing fourth overall in the competition.
The day began with senior captain
Leah Petricca (Pittsfield, Mass.) competing in Open Fences and Flat for the Hawks, placing 3rd and 6th respectively. Junior
Sierra Kuzmeski (Hatfield, Mass.) competed second in Intermediate Fences and coming in 5th place, gaining 2 points for the Hawks. In the last fences division of the day, freshman
Lindsey Savoie (Tolland, Conn.) placed 2 nd out of 10 riders for the Hawks and brought in 5 points for the team.
The Hawks then sent three riders into the ring to compete in the Limit Flat division with junior captain
Alexandra Macdonald (Norwood, Mass.) placing the highest at 2nd place and gaining the Hawks 5 more points for the day. Also in Limit Flat, sophomore
Mila Weilbaecher (Maryville, Tenn.) placed 4th, and sophomore
Sarah Strzegowski (Westford, Mass.) placed 5th.
In the Novice division,
Lani Schilling (Wellesley, Mass.) placed 5th for the Hawks out of nine competitors. For PreNovice, freshman
Mylie McCabe (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) placed 4th for the Hawks gaining 3 points for the Hawks. Followed by sophomore
Grace Braga (Barrington, R.I.) who placed 5th. Lastly, in the Introductory division, freshman
Hannah Labreche (Barrington, R.I.) placed 7th gaining the last point of the day for the Hawks.
The Hawks finished the day placing fourth overall for team score with Brown coming out on top in the competition.
The Roger Williams equestrian team will be on the road again on Saturday, Oct 26th at Windswept Farm where Brown will host the second competition of the 2024-25 season before the Hawks will host their home show for the Fall at Sandy Point Farms in Portsmouth, R.I. on Saturday, Nov 2nd.
