CNE RELEASE
BEVERLY, Mass. – The Conference of New England (CNE) has continued to unveil their CNE 40
th Anniversary Teams, announcing 57 former CNE Men's Cross Country Runner to the Team. The team also includes 24 Roger Williams University Men's Cross Country runners.
Leading off the list is Jon Buell, who earned All-CCC Honors in the 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 seasons, earning CCC Runner of the Year Honors twice, once as a junior and once as a senior. Along with Buell on the list is Chris Busby, who also was a four-time All-CCC runner from 2012-15.
Kevin Clark also earned a nod on the CNE's 40
th Anniversary Team, after being named Runner of the Year during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. Clark also placed himself on the All-CCC Team four times from 2005-08, while earning CCC Rookie of the Year in 2005.
A Runner of the Year and First Team All-Conference runner in 2002, Ryan Corbett made the team after also taking Rookie of the Year honors in 2002. Joining the group is Sean Doyle, who ran for the Hawks from 2011-14 in Men's Cross Country earning All-CCC honors twice during his 2011 and 2014 seasons.
Jim Dugan earned the honor after earning All-CCC honors in 2004, 2005, and 2006 seasons, while joined by Jack Dunleavey who earned All-Conference honors three times as well as Jonathan Ellis and Jack Ferguson who each earned All-CCC honors four times, along with Ferguson's two Runner of the Year awards.
A graduate of 2024, Trey Generali made the 40
th anniversary team, alongside Nick Haas, and Connor Hayden, all three of whom earned All-Conference recognition twice. Alexander Kalber also earned a spot on the team with his two All-Conference appearances occurring in 2023 and 2024.
Mitch Leveille was also recognized after earning All-Conference honors twice, with a Runner of the Year award in 2010 and a Rookie of the Year Award in 2009. Tom Maybury and Jim Mazino each were recognized after earning their All-Conference honors for four seasons.
Tim McGowan was honors for the 2014 campaign in which he was named CCC Runner and Rookie of the Year while earning an NCAA bid. Alex Parulis was named to the honor after being a four-time All-Conference runner from 2005-07. James Pingree accomplished the feat in three seasons, from 2002-04, along with James Pruner who did the same with recognition in 2001-02 and 2004.
Doug Sasso and Dave Strumski each were named to the team, after three and Four All-Conference campaigns respectively. Will Tainter-Gilbert was also recognized for his two All-Conference performances.
Rounding out the group is Kevin Terbush and Eric Van Tassel, who both took home Runner of the Year Honors, with Terbush earning two All-Conference Teams, while Van Tassel placed on the All-Conference Team four times.
The 40th Anniversary campaign runs parallel to the league's new naming and branding initiative that was launched in August. This celebration also serves as a platform to highlight the conference's achievements, honor its history, and generate enthusiasm for future endeavors.
