BRISTOL, R.I. – On day three of our Hawk Highlights, we recognize the strong performances by the RWU Men's Track & Field and Men's Cross Country teams as they repeated as conference champions.
In the spring, the Hawks recorded their second straight conference title, as they dominated tallying 252 points while Wentworth finished second with 117. The Hawks took the top spot in 11 events, including the steeplechase where
Trey Generali took home the top spot in 9:30.64 setting a school record.
The Hawks also earned the top spot in the 400m hurdles as
Griffin Hebert finished first in 57.30.
Nathan Tassey took home top finishes in the 5k and in the 1500. The RWU 4x100 meter relay also set a school record as they secured points. In the field events,
Sam Bielawa earned a first place finish in the Long Jume, finishing with a distance fo 6.65m, while
Steven Nostro earned a win in the Pole Vault. The High Jump also went in favor of the Hawks with
Adam Lacroix jumping 1.66m.
Napoleon Suderman also finished first in the hammer throw, earning a school record in the process.
This past fall, Men's Cross Country finished atop the field in a similar fashion. The Hawks took the top spot with a score of 38, while Suffolk placed second with 50 points. The Hawks also saw four runners earn Conference of New England (CNE) All-Conference honors as the Hawkss saw Tassey finish in first, followed by
Dylan Beggins and
Nathan Evans who placed third and fourth respectively.
Harrison Krause rounded out the All-Conference honors for the Hawks, finishing 12
th in the field.
