Box Score NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. — The Roger Williams University Women's Volleyball team battled hard on Wednesday night but fell to UMass Dartmouth, 3–1 (22-25, 25–16, 17-25, 22-25), in a tightly contested non-conference matchup. Despite strong performances at the net and in the back row, the Hawks couldn't overcome the Corsairs' late-set surges.
Roger Williams held its own throughout the evening, hitting .179 as a team while out-blocking UMass Dartmouth 7.0 to 2.0 and edging them in digs, 76–69. The Hawks stayed aggressive offensively, racking up 44 kills, but the Corsairs' .198 attack efficiency and 55 total kills proved to be the difference.
Brianna Picchietti (Batavia, Ill.) led the charge for RWU with 16 kills on a .255 hitting percentage. Peyton Felix (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) followed with 13 kills, hitting .270, while Angela West (Riverview, Fla.) contributed eight kills and five blocks.
Emma Bosco (North Andover, Mass.) orchestrated the offense with 34 assists and added 16 digs. Kaylee Jackson (Naugatuck, Conn.) anchored the defense with 18 digs and led the team at the service line with two aces. Marianna Hernandez (Norwalk, Conn.) added 13 digs and five assists, and Izzy Unsworth (Milford, N.H.) chipped in 11 digs and an ace.
The Hawks (9–9, 5–0 CNE) will look to bounce back on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1:00 pm, as they travel for a Conference of New England matchup against Gordon.
