BLOOMFIELD, Conn. — The Roger Williams University Men's Golf team closed out the 2025 Commonwealth New England (CNE) Championship title on Sunday at Tumble Brook Country Club, posting a two-day total of +34 to secure the top spot in the nine-team field.

Western New England's Derek Johnson was on his own at the head of the leaderboard, finishing 9-under par after rounds of 68 (-4) and 67 (-5) to claim individual medalist honors by 11 strokes. Endicott's Myles O'Quinn and Hartford's Zack MacMillan tied for runner-up at +2 overall.

Roger Williams University placed fourth at +34, highlighted by two All-Conference performances. Sammy Johnson (West Springfield, Mass.) finished fourth overall at +3 (75-72), earning First Team All-Conference recognition after posting one of the few even-par rounds on Sunday. Will Lafrance (Westport, Mass.) joined him on the All-Conference list, earning Second Team honors, firing a 2-under 70 in Round 2 to finish fifth overall at +5 (79-70).

Rounding out the Hawks' efforts, Josh Peterson (Goffstown, N.H.) carded rounds of 77-79 (+12) to place 17th, while Ryan Dacey (East Greenwich, R.I.) finished at +18 (84-78), tied for 29th. Dante Hardt (Orange, Conn.) added a +20 (80-84), tying for 35th.

Hartford (+17), Endicott (+28), and Western New England (+32) finished ahead of Roger Williams (+34), while Suffolk, University of New England, Nichols, Wentworth, and Gordon rounded out the team standings.

Roger Williams sees their CNE title streak end after two season, and will turn their attention to the Skidmore Fall Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 11 and Sunday, Oct. 12.
