WENHAM, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Cross Country team captured the CNE Championship title Saturday afternoon, placing five runners inside the top-13 to secure the program's fifth consecutive conference championship.
Senior Nathan Tassey (Whitman, Mass.) led the way and claimed the individual title, crossing in 25:20.59 to finish first overall. Junior Nathan Evans (Lincoln, R.I.) followed with a season-best performance, taking second in 25:48.10 to give RWU an immediate 1-2 punch up front.
Senior Justin Dickson (Londonderry, N.H.) also delivered for the Hawks, running a personal best time of 26:13.41 to place seventh. Senior Colin Czuchra (Oxford, Conn.) was right behind in 11th with a PR of 26:24.83, and junior Harrison Krause (Glastonbury, Conn.) rounded out the scoring with a season-best 13th-place finish in 26:36.72.
Roger Williams posted 34 points as a team to win over second-place Wentworth (68) and third-place Hartford (70).
The Hawks also saw strong depth performances throughout the pack with PRs and SBs across the board. Senior Ryan Cotugno (Melrose, Mass.) and junior Kyle Tarpy (Haverhill, Mass.) both added PR efforts as the sixth and seventh RWU runners across the line.
Next up, RWU will turn its attention to NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championship on Nov. 15 in Canton, N.Y.
