ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team will see its fall season come to an end over the upcoming weekend, as Carlos Bermudez de Castro (La Coruña, Spain) guides the Hawks' Open Match Racing team at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Open Match Race National Championship Saturday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Nov. 16.
This is Bermudez de Castro's first selection to the Open Match Racing National Championships, earning an at-large birth after placing third at the NEISA Match Race Championship back in September. Harvard's Justin Callahan took the top spot, securing the automatic qualifier for Harvard, while Brown finished second, as Guthrie Braun was selected at large, along with Boston College's Peter Busch, who rounded out the field of four NEISA Sailors.
Bermudez de Castro comes into the ICSA Match Race National Championships with prior experience, sailing at both the 2024 Open Team and Dinghy National Championships, as well as the 2025 events.
Bermudez de Castro will be joined by Drew Mastovsky (Marion, Mass.), Tristan McDonald (Lake Forest, Ill.), and Addy Fisher (Charleston, S.C.), who helped sail to third at the NEISA Match Race Championships.
The races will begin on Saturday, Nov. 15, and conclude on Sunday, Nov. 16.
