NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team dominated Mitchell College, 77-39, in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon in New London, Connecticut. The Hawks used a balanced offensive effort and smothering defense to roll past the Mariners, leading for nearly 39 minutes and winning by a 38-point margin.

Roger Williams shot 47.6 percent from the field and controlled the glass 42–28 while earning 22 points off of turnovers and picking up 19 second chance points. The Hawks opened the game on a 22–6 first-quarter run and never looked back, taking a 44–17 lead into halftime. The Hawks maintained control throughout, holding Mitchell to a 22.6 percent shooting overall.

Sophia Coppola (Madison, Conn.) led the Hawks with 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting with two steals and two blocks, while Maia Riccio (Cranston, R.I.) added 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting with three rebounds. Meg Qualey (Woburn, Mass.), Ava Azzaro (Northampton, Mass.), Chloe Richardson (Norwell, Mass), and Lilli Clark (Willimantic, Conn.) each picked up seven rebounds apiece.

Jade Hypolite led the Mariners with 12 points on a 3-of-8 shooitng, while Inonda Peterson added 10 and picked up seven rebounds on the day. Adrianna Maldonado scored five points, including a 3-pointer in the final seconds.

Roger Williams (3-1, 0-0 CNE) will return to play on Wednesday, Nov. 19 when they host Curry for their first Conference of New England (CNE) matchup at 5:30 pm before hosting Tufts on Friday, Nov. 21 at 6:00 pm.
