BRISTOL, R.I. – The No. 2 seeded Roger Williams men's tennis team is set to battle No. 3 Colby-Sawyer in the semi-finals of the Conference of New England Playoff Tournament.
The Hawks finished their season 17-2 overall and 8-1 in conference play. Their lone loss in conference play came last Wednesday at Nichols College, who will serve as the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
Colby-Sawyer, coming in as the No. 3 seed, finished their regular season at 14-7 overall and 6-3 in Conference of New England play. They come into the match having won their last five meetings, with their last loss coming on April 10
th against Nichols.
Roger Williams and Colby-Sawyer met on April 4
th in Bristol, R.I. where the Hawks downed the Chargers 5-2. In the matchup, the Chargers handled the Hawks in doubles play, with Ashton Meuse and Zsombor Homonnay taking down the Hawks'
Bronson DeSisto and
Ryan Carroll (9-7, 7-6) in number one's action. In the two's matchup the Charger's duo of Aidan Jensen and Peyton Meuse downed RWU's
Camden Poitras and
Konnor Collins (7-5). Roger Williams handled the three's matchup with
Iker Rodriguez Alcocer and
Tucker Taylor downing Jacob Riis and David Dvorak (7-5). In singles play, the Hawks took five of the six matchups, with DeSisto, Carroll, Taylor, Collins, and
Johnny Baldyga all securing wins.
The Doubles lineup for Wednesday's matchup will go as follows:
#1 Doubles:
Bronson DeSisto / Ryan Carroll vs. Ashton Meuse / Zsombor Homonnay
DeSisto and Carroll will be coming into the matchup at 12-3 as a unit. They fell to Meuse and Homonnay in the previous this season, 9-7 and 7-6.
#2 Doubles:
Camden Poitras / Will Hurlbut vs Peyton Meuse / Aidan Jensen
Poitras and Hurlbut finished the regular season at 10-2, however Meuse and Jensen defeated the Hawks #2 doubles in the regular season matchup, a lineup that consisted of
Konnor Collins and
Camden Poitras.
#3 Doubles:
Iker Rodriguez Alcocer / Tucker Taylor vs David Dvorak / Jacob Riis
Rodriguez Alcocer and Taylor come into the matchup with a 12-2 record out of the number three spot. In their previous matchup against Dvorak and Riis, the Hawks won their matchup 7-5.

Bronson DeSisto vs Ashton Meuse
DeSisto comes into the battle at 11-6, having defeated Meuse 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3. DeSisto has downed his last three opponents heading into Wednesday.
#2 Singles:
Ryan Carroll vs Zsombor Homonnay
Carroll sits at 14-1 from the number two spot this season, with his lone loss coming in his most recent matchup at Nichols College. He defeated Homonnay in their regular season matchup 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
#3 Singles:
Camden Poitras vs Peyton Meuse
Poitras comes in at 9-5 out of the three spot, having lost his matchup with Meuse 4-6, 4-6 the last time Roger Williams and Colby-Sawyer met.
#4 Singles:
Tucker Taylor vs David Dvorak
Taylor sits at 12-1 out of the four spot, with his lone loss coming in his most recent matchup against Nichols. Tucker defeated Dvorak 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in their last matchup.

John Baldyga vs Aidan Jenson

The winner of the Roger Williams and Colby-Sawyer matchup at the Bayside Courts will take on the winner of No. 1 Nichols vs No. 4 Endicott.
