PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Golf team sits fourth heading into the second day of competition at the RWU Invitational at The Aquidneck Club, after the first day of competition on Sunday.
The Hawks shot 311 (+27) while Conference of New England (CNE) foes Endicott and Suffolk sit first, at 293 (+9) and third, with 310 (+26) respectively. Salem State sits in second with a 298 (+14). Eastern Connecticut State, 314 (+30), Nichols, 324 (+40), Rhode Island College, 331 (+47), and SUNY Old Westbury, 365 (+81) round out the field.
Individually, Endicott's Will Pierce sits atop the leaderboard at 68 (-3) through the first day of competition. Salem State's Colin Richmond and the Gulls' Brady Burke sit tied for second with a 72 (+1) while Ryan Dacey is tied with Daniel DiLisio of Salem State with a 74 (+3) to round out the top five.
Roger Williams's scoring lineup consisted of Dacey, Will Lafrance, Sammy Johnson, Josh Peterson, and Dante Hardt. Lafrance shot a 76 (+5) on the day, with Johnson shooting 77 (+6). Peterson was the last counting score for the Roger Williams team, with an 84 (+13). Hardt carded an 85 (+14).
Competing as individuals, Brady Sullivan shot a 79 (+8) on the round, sitting tied for 20th. Will Reece also posted a strong 80 (+9) for the round, finishing tied for 25th individually. Joel Collins, 81 (+10), and Chris Locke, 82 (+11), sit tied for 28th and 31st, respectively. Rounding out RWU competitors is Brandon Calderon, who finished tied with Peterson at 84 (+13).
The second round is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am on Monday at The Aquidneck Club, with RWU individuals starting the day.
