BEVERLY, Mass. – No. 4 Roger Williams University will open up their Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament on Wednesday at No. 1 Endicott as they take on No. 5 Suffolk in their first contest.
Roger Williams enters the CNE Tournament for the second consecutive season, and 10
th time under head coach
Joyce Maudie who has led the Hawks since the 2011 campaign. The Hawks have posted a 22-16 record with an 11-7 conference record.
The Hawks final CNE matchup of the regular season was a doubleheader split against Western New England on Wednesday, Apr. 30 defeating the Golden Bears 7-3 in game one before falling 5-3 in game two in extra innings. The Hawks final outing of the campaign came on Friday, May 2 with a 4-1 win over UMass Dartmouth on Paolino Field.
Roger Williams is led on the offensive end by
Shannon Starratt who is hitting .378 on the season, with five home runs and 26 RBIs. Starratt also has nine double, and three triples all of which leads the team.
Lucy Maurao has hit .373 with 102 at bats, and 38 hits, with 11 total RBIs, while
Christina Denovellis and
Hailey Williams have hit .305 and .277, respectively.

Keira Quadros has posted a 2.79 ERA with 11 complete games and a pair of saves, going 7-5 on the year. Quadros has struck out 82 over 93.2 innings of work.
Raegen Germano has also been a key factor in the circle, spinning 91.0 innings with 104 strikeouts and holding opponents to a .192 batting average and 3.16 ERA.
Suffolk is coming off of a 16-20 campaign, finishing 10-8 within the CNE. The last time out the Rams faced WNE on Saturday, May 3, falling in both contests, 7-3 and 2-0. RWU and Suffolk met on Friday, Apr. 18 with the Hawks taking game one, 4-0, and falling in game two to the Rams, 2-1.
Catherine Carignan is the top hitter for the Rams, batting .369 with 122 at-bats and 45 hits, while also hitting two home runs, with a total of 11 extra-base hits. Carignan has seven stolen bases on the season, while Julia Mills and Lily Gustafson each have nine. Mills is hitting .342 on the year with Gustafson tallying a .324 batting average.
In the circle, Lily Newhall leads the charge with 17 starts and 19 appearances, going 8-7 with a save in those outings. Newhall has spun 102.0 innings with a 3.02 ERA, averaging 3.43 strikeouts per seven innings. Cynthia Rucinski holds a 3.21 ERA with an 8-10 record in 18 appearances and 14 starts, throwing 87.1 innings.
The winner will advance to face No. 1 Endicott in the day's second game. The Gulls enter the tournament with a 21-13 record with a 14-4 CNE season. The Gulls split with both Roger Williams and Suffolk during the regular season, entering the tournament with a sweep of Curry on Saturday.
Abby McClaflin leads the team in batting average with a .375 average, while also earning 23 RBIs and hitting five home runs. Mia Mitchell has hit .318 on the year, with Elyse Saccoccio hitting .317 with 18 RBIs and three home runs. Paige Berdos is a threat on the bases, with seven steals on the season.
In the circle the Gulls have Kristen Beebe with 2.71 ERA, with nine wins and 73 strikeouts and a save. Analise Grady has a 2.86 ERA with a trio of saves with six wins and 45 strikeouts.
