HARTFORD, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Men's Cross Country team delivered an impressive performance at the Trinity College Invitational on Saturday, securing a fifth-place team finish in the 5,000-meter race with a tightly packed top five.
The Hawks' first five runners combined for a total time of 1:28:10, averaging 17:38 per runner with an exceptionally small 37-second spread. Colin Czuchra (Oxford, Conn.) led the way, placing 23rd overall with a time of 17:18.7, hitting the mile mark at 5:39.5 and maintaining a steady pace throughout the race.
Close behind was Ryan Cotugno (Melrose, Mass.) in 26th place at 17:24.2, followed by Justin Dickson (Londonderry, N.H.), who crossed the line in 34th with a 17:36.6 finish. Kyle Tarpy (Haverhill, Mass.) grabbed 43rd place in 17:54.5, while Cole Walker (Cumberland, R.I.) rounded out the scoring five with a 46th-place finish in 17:56.0.
The Hawks' top seven finished with an average of 18:33, as Joshua Soucy (Manchester, N.H.) clocked 18:11.7 for 50th place, and Andrew Frenette (Dighton, Mass.) added an 18:50.6 finish to complete RWU's top seven.
Roger Williams will return to action at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20, hosted by the Corsairs.
