HARTFORD, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Women's Cross Country team turned in a strong showing at the Trinity College Invitational on Saturday, placing eighth overall in the 5,000-meter race behind a steady team performance.
The Hawks' top five runners combined for a total time of 2:01:52, averaging 24:22 per runner. Leading the charge was Grace Baldwin (Braintree, Mass.), who placed 26th overall with a time of 21:32.8, pacing the first mile in 6:42.8 before crossing the line with a 7:34.3 per-mile average.
Gabriella Sitzer (Slingerlands, N.Y.) followed closely behind, clocking a 23:04.7 to secure 51st place, running consistent early splits through the one- and two-mile marks. Amanda Walsh (South Windsor, Conn.) added depth with a 74th-place finish at 24:36.5, while Alyssa LaValley (Epsom, N.H.) came in at 25:00.7 for 79th place. Bree Killion (Rochester, Mass.) rounded out the Hawks' top five, posting a 27:37.5 finish to take 92nd.
The Hawks' top seven averaged 25:10, with Lindsay Maine (Richmond, R.I.) contributing a 29:11.0 finish to help RWU secure its team score.
Roger Williams will next compete at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 20, hosted by the Corsairs.
