Track & Field: Tassey Claims National Runner-Up Finish in 10,000M; Dickson Opens Decathlon Competition

LA CROSSE, Wi. – The Roger Williams University Track & Field program saw Nathan Tassey and Justin Dickson compete in the first day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championship on Thursday, May 21.

Tassey secured a podium finish in the 10,000 meters taking second-place with a personal-best, season-best, and school record time of 29:08.50. His runner-up finish marks his second time earning First Team All-American honors and the first time in program history a track athlete has earned the honor twice.

Dickson currently sits 19th in the Decathlon after competing in five events. Dickson finished the 100m with a time of 11.46 to finish 14th before logging a 6.10m long jump. In the shot put, he finished 12th with a 11.43m throw. In the high jump, Dickson finished 18th with a 1.74m jump, while he finished 12th in the 400m in 50.64.

Dickson will continue the Decathlon on Friday, May 22, while Tassey will be back in action on Saturday, May 23 for the 5,000 meters and Angela West will compete in the Javelin also on Saturday.
