LA CROSSE, Wi. – The Roger Williams University Track & Field program saw Justin Dickson finish 10th in the Decathlon with a personal-best, season-best, and program-best 6700 points at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championship on Friday, May 22.
After day one, Dickson sat 19th after competing in five events. Dickson finished the 100m with a time of 11.46 to finish 14th before logging a 6.10m long jump. In the shot put, he finished 12th with a 11.43m throw. In the high jump, Dickson finished 18th with a 1.74m jump, while he finished 12th in the 400m in 50.64.
On day two, Dickson opened with an 11th place finish in the 110-meter hurdles before placing seventh in the discus throw. He placed 12th in the pole vault at 3.95m and added a fifth-place finish in the javelin. His best finish of nationals came in the 1500m, where he placed second with a time of 4:20.60.
This ends Dickson's season, but Nathan Tassey and Angela West will compete for the Hawks on Saturday, May 23. Tassey will run the 5,000m and West will compete in javelin.
