BRISTOL, R.I.- Two wrestlers earned weekly awards after their strong performances in the RWU Wrestling Invitational last weekend. Freshman Michael Monson (Southington, Conn.) was named Pilgrim League Rookie of the Week and sophomore Martin Mitchell (Laurel, Md.) was named RWU Male Athlete of the Week.

Wrestling at 157, Monson posted a 4-1 record Saturday, including two wins by fall, to place second at the RWU Invitational. Monson improves to 10-4 on the season, including last week's strong performance at the Ithaca Invitational. There he posted three wins by fall en route to his 5-3 record – good for sixth place.

Mitchell meanwhile won the 141 championship Saturday, posting a 4-0 record along the way. Defeating wrestlers from Southern Maine, Wesleyan and two from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Mitchell helped lead the way to the overall team victory for RWU.

The wrestling team returns to action Wednesday when they host the U.S. Coast Guard Academy at 7:30 p.m.
