Hawks finish 7th at RWU Wrestling Invitational

BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University finished in 7th place with 73.5 points at the 21st annual Roger Williams University Wrestling Invitational that featured wrestlers from 12 schools (Roger Williams, Bridgewater State, Coast Guard, Johnson & Wales, MIT, Messiah, Norwich, Rhode Island College, Stevens Tech, Southern Maine, Wesleyan, and WPI).

Stevens Institute of Technology won the RWU Invitational with a team score of 163.5.  Messiah College finished second with 144 points.  Coast Guard's Nathaniel Giorgio (Leesport, Pa.) was named the Lightweight Most Outstanding Wrestling and won the 125-pound division while Johnson & Wales' Colin Lenhardt (Hayes, Va.) was named the Heavyweight Most Outstanding Wrestler and won at 174-pounds.

Junior Shane Parcel (Pine Brook, N.J.) was the top finisher for the Hawks, taking second place at 184-pounds.

Sophomore Conor Hayes (Old Bridge, N.J.) finished fourth at 149-pounds.  Freshman Michael Ehlinger (Hauppauge, N.Y.) placed fifth at 133-pounds and junior Philip Ernst (Succasunna, N.J.) took sixth place at 197-pounds.

The Roger Williams Wrestling team returns to the mat on Saturday, November 19 for the Doug Parker Invitational at Springfield College.
