Men’s Tennis Suffers Rare Loss To Eastern Nazarene

Box Score QUINCY, Mass. - The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team posted its first win over Roger Williams since 1994 Tuesday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts, prevailing 7-2 in a crucial conference matchup.
 
The Lions elevate to 11-2 on the year and 3-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the victory. The Hawks fall to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in league action with the loss.
 
The home team swept the doubles points to build up a 3-0 lead.
 
Alex Partyka (Moscow, Russia) and Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) picked up an 8-2 victory at the No. 1 doubles spot over Grant Rosenberg and Nick Spoor.
 
Santiago Camero (Valencia, Venezuela) and Kyle Pierson (Redding, Calif.) downed Jake Cole and Matthew Russo 8-5 at the second position.
 
Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) and Davis Steelman (Darlington, Md.) rolled past Matty Feldman and Brendan White 8-3 at the No. 3 slot.
 
Eastern Nazarene tallied four singles victories to snap an 0-for-22 slump against Roger Williams.
 
Siercke cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot over Cole.
 
Pierson suffered a 6-2, 6-0 setback at the No. 4 slot and Kaden Swarr (Brighton, Colo.) fell 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 6 singles match as the visitors cut the deficit to 4-2.
 
Camero conceded the opening frame 6-2 then bounced back to capture the second set 6-2. The rookie prevailed 6-1 in the third set to clinched the match for the Lions with a three-set victory at the No. 3 position.
 
Steelman continued his stellar season with a straight-sets win at the No. 5 slot to improve to 13-0 on the year.
 
Partyka outlasted White in a three-set showdown at the No. 1 singles position. The sophomore dropped the first set 7-5 before storming back to claim the second and third sets 6-4, 6-4.
 
Up next, Eastern Nazarene returns to action April 12 to host Wentworth.
