CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team concluded competition at the ICSA/Gill Coed National Championship with a tenth-place finish.
On the final day of sailing, the Hawks began with a strong showing at A Division.
Martim Anderson (Lisbon, Portugal) and
Rebecca Anderson (Northport, N.Y.) put together solid results over their first three races, taking second along with a pair of sixth place finishes.
At B Division,
Michael Gemperline (Avon Lake, Ohio) and
Beatrice Bellacosa (Winchester, Mass.) made their first appearance of the championship. The pair struggled a bit in their first two races, posting two 17
th place results. However, they would rally in the third race, coming in third.
The Andersons rolled off a seventh-place results and a fourth-place race in the next two races, while Gemperline and Bellacosa took sixth and 18
th in their next two. A Division closed out the day with a pair of eighth-place finishes, while B Division took 16
th and 13
th to finish out.
The Hawks finished in fourth place overall at A Division, only nine points behind the top spot. At B Division, RWU placed 14
th.
Dartmouth College won the Coed National Championship with a 19-point margin of victory.
