ITHACA, N.Y. – The Roger Williams University Men's Polo team suffered its second consecutive loss to Cornell University after falling 13-18 to the Bears.
George Hempt (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) scored first for RWU before Cornell rolled off three straight scores to take the lead. Both teams would then trade goals to allow Cornell to hold on to a 5-3 lead after the first chukka.
In the second chukka, Hempt,
Pedro Cabrera (Santo Domingo, D.R.), and
Daymar Rosser (Philadelphia, Pa.) each scored for the Hawks in the period. However, the Bears responded with three goals of their own to hold on to their two goal advantage.
In the third chukka, Cornell would ultimately pull away from Roger Williams. The Bears scored the first six goals of the period and outscored RWU 6-1 in the frame to go up 14-7.
RWU tried to rally with six goals in the final period but Cornell used four goals to keep the Hawks at bay and hold on for the win.
Hempt led RWU with five goals while Rosser finished with four goals and Cabrera three.
