BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team posted its second straight winning weekend, coming away with its second regatta victory in as many weeks.
At the Rudkin Team Race, hosted by Roger Williams but held at Eckerd College, the Hawks came away with first place among the eight-team field. RWU was stellar on the water throughout the weekend. In the first round robin, the Hawks rolled through six of the seven teams in the field, collecting wins over Charleston, Yale, MIT, Boston University, Bowdoin, and Boston College. The second round robin saw the Hawks finish unblemished on the day, posting a perfect 7-0 record. Sailing for Roger Williams down in St. Petersburg was

At the MIT Team Race Invitational Regatta, Roger Williams took third place overall. The Hawks began the regatta with a 4-1 record in the opening round robin, defeating MIT, Northeastern, Salve Regina, and URI. They would post another 4-1 record in the second round robin, claiming wins over the same four teams. On the second day, RWU faltered a bit in the third round robin, only defeating Salve Regina and MIT to go 2-3. They fared a little better in the final round robin, going 3-2 with wins over URI, Northeastern, and Salve Regina but still finished four wins behind regatta winner Tufts. Preston Duclos (Tortola, BVI), Kylie Freitas (Escondido, Calif.), Peter Neal (Manhattan Beach, Calif.), Hallie Repeta (Portland, Maine), Spencer Cartwright (Nassau, Bahamas), and Emily Gildea (Palos Park, Ill.).
Roger Williams wrapped up the weekend at the Navy Spring Women's Invitational, with the team took 14
th place. Kelsey Shakin (Boston, Mass.) and
Megan Roach (Newport Beach, Calif.) took 14
th place via tiebreaker at A Division. They managed to finish in the top ten in four races, including a win in the ninth race and a runner-up result in the 14
th race.
Janel DeCurtis (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and Ariana Smaldone (Tiverton, R.I.) also placed 14
th while competing at B Division. Similar to A Division, DeCurtis and Smaldone put together four top-ten finishes, notching one win in the 12
th race.
