BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team raced in three regattas this past weekend, including the women's national qualifier.
At the NEISA Women's Championship/Reed Trophy, hosted by Coast Guard, the Hawks picked up a 12
th-place finish. Although the Hawks were unable to earn a berth to the women's national championship, the Hawks still put together a good effort. Kelsey Shakin (Boston, Mass.) and
Megan Roach (Newport Beach, Calif.) took 12
th place at A Division after notching four top-ten races including a pair of fifth-place results. Roach,
Janel DeCurtis (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and Ariana Smaldone (Tiverton, R.I.) came in 11
th place at B Division. They had five races among the top ten with a best showing of fourth place in race #3.
At the Admiral's Cup, hosted by Kings Point, Roger Williams posted a sixth-place showing. The regatta was confined to only one day of racing due to a lack of wind on the second day.
Martim Anderson (Lisbon, Portugal) and
Rebecca Anderson (Northport, N.Y.) finished in sixth place at A Division. They picked up one runner-up finish as part of their five results among the top seven. At B Division, Daniel Petrovic (Tortola, BVI) and Hallie Repeta (Portland, Maine) collected a seventh-place finish. They also had one second-place race in addition to two third-place outcomes.
At the Boston Dinghy Cup, hosted by MIT, RWU concluded the weekend in 12
th place. Competing at A Division were Preston Duclos (Westport, Mass.) and Rachel Holick (Lawrenc, N.J.), who finished in eighth place in the division. They earned a win in race #4 while totaling seven finishes in the top eight. At B Division, Spencer Cartwright (Nassau, Bahamas) and Emily Gildea (Palos Park, Ill.) took 14
th place, with their best finishes a fifth place and a seventh place. Dane Pederson (Chanhasset, Minn.) and Kylie Freitas (Escondido, Calif.) earned 11
th place at C Division after rattling off seven top-ten results including a pair of four-place finishes.
