NORFOLK, Va. – The Roger Williams University Sailing team finished as runner-up at the LaserPerformance Team Race National Championship.
The Hawks ended the first day of the championship in second place after a stellar showing. RWU posted a 12-1 record in the opening day, rolling through the field with the team's sole setback coming against the College of Charleston.
On the second day of competition, the Hawks wrapped up the opening round robin with a 1-1 record to advance to the top eight. In the top eight, RWU posted a 4-3 record, taking wins over Charleston, Hobart & William Smith, Stanford, and George Washington. With RWU's 17-5 record, the team was able to progress to the final four on the final day.
In the final four, Roger Williams logged a 1-2 record, with the team's only victory coming against Georgetown. The Hawks would then go into a sail-off against Hobart & William Smith and Georgetown, going 1-1 with the win over Hobart & William Smith. RWU finished the championship with a 19-8 overall record, with the College of Charleston claiming the championship.

Roger Williams will look to win the College Sailing/Gill Coed Dinghy National Championship beginning on Tuesday, May 29.
