Martin, a four-year member of the Women's Tennis team, will be captaining the Hawks for her second consecutive season.

"Heidi is an outstanding example of leadership," said Head Women's Tennis Coach Barry Gorman. "She is someone who sets the tone with hard work and dedication."

As a freshman, Martin quickly made her mark as she finished the season tied for the team lead with 12 doubles wins, earning a spot on the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Third Team for doubles in the process. In her sophomore campaign, she made the jump to the All-CCC First Team in singles while also making the All-CCC Third Team in doubles by collecting six wins in doubles play. Last season, she made the All-CCC Second Team in singles by collecting nine singles wins. Her five singles wins in conference was tied for second on the Hawks. She also earned a spot on the All-CCC Third Team in doubles by logging nine wins and tied the team lead with five wins in conference play. Across her three years in Bristol, she has collected 15 singles wins while going 27-16 in doubles play. She has made the All-CCC Team five times and has twice been named to the CCC Academic All-Conference Team.

"It is a huge honor for me," Martin said on the podcast Hawk Talk. "Ever since freshman year, I have wanted to be a captain for this team…I just know that my teammates are able to see me as a leader and for them to know that I am always there for them and that's my goal and to really be able to lead this team into a great season."

"She competes hard every single day and pushes her teammates to be better," Gorman said. "In addition, Heidi has developed great relationships with her teammates on and off the court which gives them trust and confidence in her. Heidi is natural leader who is going to thrive in her second season as captain."
